Wanting to let everyone know first off that I am going to change my show ratings from a 0-5 to a 0-10.  It will give more of a range possibility.  That being said, here are the new ratings for past shows that I gave ratings to:

Hell in a Cell 2010 received a 6 while this past RAW received a 3.

Now onto the Smackdown Review:

Hey hey here we go again with THE SMACKDOWN REVIEW!  The show starts off with a bang as Theodore Long introduces the man he traded for, “The Rated-R Superstar”, Edge!  Edge comes out sporting his old trench coat and glasses.  Good to see that look back.  Jack Swagger comes out with his eagle mascot and says he is going to ruin Edge’s return like Edge ruined his return to Oklahoma.  Swagger mentions Edge spearing the friendly, children-loved, endangered, unable to get medical insurance “Swagger Soaring Eagle”.   Edge says “get in here and I’ll make you look stupid in about 3 seconds”.  He says to tell the eagle to leave because he has no problem flipping the bird.

Match: Edge vs. Jack Swagger

Results:  Edge wins

Rating:  **.5

If you didn’t see it, Edge got to the eagle.  Then JR came out and dipped the Eagle in BBQ Sauce.  Nope, didn’t happen, but the Eagle did get taken down by Edge.  Edge made his flip the bird comment again.  Meh, he’s done better mic work, that’s for sure.  Hey, at least the match got like 10-15 minutes.

A promo aired letting us know Rey Mysterio is returning tonight to face Alberto Del Rio.

Up next, “Dashing” Cody Rhodes tells us to brush our teeth to be dashing.  He says not to use a regular toothbrush because those are for regular people.  Dashing people use electric toothbrushes.  And remember folks, don’t rinse with tap water, rinse with bottled water.

Match: Layla (with Michelle McCool) vs. Kelly Kelly (with Natalya)

Results:  Layla wins

Rating:  0.5

Half a star, I’m feeling generous just because Natalya is involved in should be getting the title soon.  Layla tried to get to Natalya but Natalya stopped her.  Lay-cool left while Natalya was tending to Kelly Kelly.

Hey, it’s Rocktober.  Or is it Brocktober…. UFC vs. WWE anyone?

We are reminded about Paul Bearer’s betrayal at Hell in a Cell and told that later tonight Kane will have a message for the Undertaker.

Up next, the Big Show actually RUNS to the ring.  That was off, I have to say.  The Big Show says we’ve never seen a fat man run that fast.  No, he REALLY said that.  He promoted Knucklehead and says he has been named the team captain for Smackdown at Bragging Rights.  Big Show says to unify team Smackdown he has gotten the team a mascot – Hornswaggle.  Hornswaggle comes out wearing all blue, even blue facepaint.  Trent Baretta and Caylen Croft come out and say they want on Team Smackdown.  Big Show calls them dude (they are the “Dudebusters” – yeah, that’s their team name…) and says he doesn’t know who they are.  They say they could just get traded to Raw and join the Miz’s team.  Big Show gives a double chokeslam to them and this promo is over.  Good.

Footage is shown of Alberto Del Rio breaking Rey Mysterio’s arm and hyping up the main event for tonight.

Match: Drew McIntrye & “Dashing” Cody Rhodes (we’ll call them Dashintyre) vs. Kaval (NXT Season 2 winner) & Kofi Kingston

Results:  Dashintyre wins

Rating: *.5

It was an alright match I suppose.  Not really anything that stuck out about it. Meh.

Paul Bearer is in the ring with Batista’s spotlight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGdtaX1isvw&feature=fvw) and introduces Kane as a man who should be respected, the man who single-handedly destroyed the myth of the Undertaker.  Here comes the “devil’s favorite son”, Kane.  Kane says he is more powerful than Taker could ever imagine (cue dramatic music here – no seriously, dramatic music was playing through the entire promo).  He talked about the betrayal of the Undertaker and some other stuff.  It was a good promo; I like the music, its Halloween fitting.  Kane called Taker weak, pathetic and helpless.  He says everyone in the audience answers to someone, and Taker answers to him.  Kane finishes his promo by saying they are just warming up.

Match: Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guererro) defends the Intercontinental title against MVP

Results: Dolph retains the title

Rating: **

They show a recap of NXT this past week where Vickie lost a match to Kaitlyn and Dolph hugged Kaitlyn.  Uh-oh folks, drama’s a-coming.  This of course led to Vickie not helping Dolph in his match.  She walked out on him.  Dun-dun-dun!  Kaitlyn came out and Ziggler picked up the win with her help.  Overall this was a good match.

Backstage, Josh Matthews interviews Del Rio and asks him if he’s concerned.  Del Rio says the little Chihuahua’s bark is bigger than his bite.  Then he says some stuff in Spanish.  He says he knows a lot of people don’t understand what he’s saying, and that he is going to leave Rey as a pile of dog trash that his only concern will be figuring out how to wipe him off the bottom of his shoe.

Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio

Results: Rey Mysterio wins

Rating: **

This was a decent match, and I suppose Rey had to win this one to further the feud.

This week’s Slammy Award goes to:  Alberto Del Rio – he gives good promos, gets good heat from the crowd and is a pretty good wrestler from what we have seen so far.

Show rating: 5 out of 10.  This episode of Smackdown wasn’t bad but it could have been better.  Since they aren’t throwing Edge into a huge storyline other than this silly feud with Swagger (which may be over after tonight’s match), I’m guessing he will be on team Smackdown at Bragging Rights.
